The HCD Hybrid Undergraduate Program is a four-year, work-integrated learning experience designed to develop the next generation of human-centered designers.


This program combines studio-based learning, real-world industry exposure, and continuous mentorship to create graduates who are not just academically qualified, but professionally experienced across multiple domains.


Students do not wait until graduation to enter the industry—they engage with it from the very beginning.

Foundation: Thinking & Seeing

Introduction to human-centered design

Visual literacy and storytelling fundamentals

Understanding human behavior, culture, and systems

Students develop foundational thinking skills and create their first portfolio of small projects.

Year 2

Exploration: Making & Expression

Communication design and UX fundamentals

Introduction to film, animation, and narrative systems

Project-based learning across creative domains

Internships:

Storytelling / Animation Studio

Film / Cinema Production Environment

Outcome:

Students gain exposure to creative industries and expand their expressive capabilities.

Year 3

Application: Product & Systems

UX/UI design and product thinking

UX writing and content design

Design research and systems thinking

Internships:

UX Design (product teams / studios)

UX Writing and communication

Startup / innovation ecosystem

Outcome:

Students begin specializing and contribute to real-world products and services.

Year 4

Integration: Strategy & Leadership

Design management and leadership

Business strategy and systems thinking

Ethics, policy, and impact

Design management in enterprise environments

Strategic design / consulting

Final capstone project with industry partner
